As for coin for the nations who can't march over, frankly, if they don't spend it now to support those of us in front then you'll end up paying to support it later on anyways when the mongol horde conquers us.

The relevant 500 minimum of men at arms would apply to those realms able to march them to Percia in a reasonable amount of time. Those realms in the extreme north would not arrive until the winter, if that. The 500 troop requirement would include both men at arms and cavalry. More or less what my Lord von Schwyz was suggesting to send. We object to a requirement and will not contribute out of principle if it is understood to to be an act of fiat by the Diet. It should not rightfully be in the powers of the Diet to, by mere majority decision, force a sovereign country to send a prescribed amount of its own soldiers, or coin, to an external purpose. The Tagsatzung offers what it does to the proposed expedition against the Mongols based on Helvetia's ability and the merit of the cause that it would work towards. It is up to the judgement of each of the other delegates here to decide what that is for their own countries. Let us instead discuss with them here what the capabilities of their respective countries are, and beseech them to contribute what they can reasonably spare to the effort. It is improper to demand more of a sovereign country. The scribe waves his hand to get the attention of Werner von Schwyz and raises his reading stone from his papers before speaking“Could I get a confirmation from my Lord von Schwyz on whether he will commit forces to this upcoming campaign? 200 cavalry and an equal number of professional soldiers is what I have stated.”

So far the following has been committed: I just want to note Gewisse sends me the money and I hire them so they don't have to march over from the north.

It is not the place of this Diet to impose its will. Anyone contributing should do it voluntarily as a good Christian.

The figures above may be treated as an expression of our military capacity as well as our willingness to contribute to a voluntary effort, but we may have need of our soldiers at home if the Diet sees fit to grab for itself the power to dictate through the decision of a simple majority what a sovereign country is to do with its men and its coin without said country's express consent.

”No commitment or contribution to aid the campaign for now. Understood.” The scribe continues to write down things on his scroll and organizes the notes taken so far. He looks up at Allectus and nods his head once he has confirmed his notes on everything that has occurred. Allectus then turns to the assembly hall and begins to speak.
“Enough time has been spent on discussing troop and monetary commitments to this upcoming campaign against the Mongol horde. Let us pray it is enough this time. If any member wishes to pledge either men or funds to this endeavor, you are free to do so at any time moving forward and the scribe will record your contribution.”
“Now moving on to the next item on the agenda, the Kingdom of Percia asks for contributions towards the relief and reconstruction of Percia once the Mongol threat has subsided. Having been a bulwark for many years and the main target of the Mongol advance, it is our Christian duty to assist our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ to rebuild their lives after losing so much.
Please begin discussion on how best to address this issue and what we can do to provide assistance.”

Elyria had already promised 1,000 florins for reconstruction of the city already burned if I recall correctly and we have no way of knowing how much more of Percia will be lost before a second intervention can stop the Mongols.

I am inclined to agree that we may have to wait until after this threat has subsided for us to make a proper evaluation of how best we can assist the Kingdom of Percia to recover from this war. In the meantime, have recently come upon a surplus of Fish and Salt which we can ship to Percia during the duration of this conflict to allow its people a better chance at holding out against the mongol sieges. And though the Republic is more to the interior, we welcome any refugees and displaced peoples from the Kingdom of Percia.

Given news of fights breaking out between the mongols and the tartars, is there any carrots that we could offer to the latter for helping us?

We absolutely should align with the Tartars to defeat this threat.

King Percy has already had some success in dealing with the Tartars.
So at the very least they would be more amenable to meeting with us.
Perhaps it would be prudent to appoint a delegation to meet with the tartars and determine what they are willing to accept in return for their assistance in driving out these mongols from our lands.

Alternatively, we can decide here and now what to offer and await their response.

What their primary demand would likely be, in any negotiation, is a land where they would be able to roam freely without any obligation to convert. Any tartar willing to convert has likely already settled in my lands or Percia's.
Part of the reason why Green Castle has not had any of the riots that Percia had is because we have a clause permitting trade for those who didn't convert as long as they just come and go along with respecting our customs and laws. This has, at least for now, kept the peace in my lands in addition to some funding to local lords to help maintain law and order.

If we defeat the Khan's horde, they will be broken - the Tartars can likely return to their own lands after working together. I say we offer them something simple: Combine forces and we will defeat the Khan together, allowing them all to return to their ancestral homelands. As a backup, we could offer them an area in the Southlands to call their own where we won't infringe upon. While they may not be converted right away, I am sure the light of the lord will see them convert in time. ”No commitment or contribution to aid the campaign for now. Understood.” The scribe continues to write down things on his scroll and organizes the notes taken so far. I also recommend that at some point, we return to the discussion of force composition. We should have an idea of what is committed not just "2000 men" - we are in dire need of heavy cavalry, light cavalry and archers. Our focus should be on that, and then infantry of secondary importance. It may be wise to have spearman to assist in defending our own archers from any horse based mischief.
