How are you planning to take the fortress before winter falls? Also, it seems likely Percia's western city would be under siege by that point. If the Mongols are already in action against a Percian settlement, we will, as best we can, lift the siege of that place. *nods* That seems a lot more practical of an objective this year than reclaiming the castle. We just don't have the roads to project our forces fast enough for the castle/cities that're practically on the border of the peninsula before winter hits.

I believe this is a sound strategy from Commander Evander. The Republican forces are estimated to arrive at the designated assembly location by July(Month 5 of campaigning). We further wish to offer to hire the The Constructors Brotherhood which can provide additional expertise during the siege of the castle or any other location during this campaign. However, we just have enough to fund half of the company and would ask for another to contribute the other half. As for Duke Gary’s concerns, I imagine this is the overarching strategy however depending on the situation on the ground, Commander Evander will have to develop separate contingency plans if the situation changes. How would you reach that spot by July? My estimates is it'd take you 6 months to reach it, let alone the lord archon. Additionally, we'd still have to march over to the castle, besiege it, and hope the mongols don't break our siege camp at any point. You are correct Duke Gary, a closer estimate would be early August. The combined forces would not have to wait another month for ours to arrive. We can always keep marching and meet at the castle. if the Mongols attack our camp or while we are sieging the castle, we would still be in better terrain compared to the last encounter.

There still remains the problem of, even if we take the castle, the horde will just reclaim it in winter like they did last time.
I suggest a more modest set of goals for this year's campaign.
1. Find the Tartar tribes resisting the Horde and reach some sort of accord with them. 2. If possible, threaten to relieve any siege on Percia's western city and force a battle in the nearby woods. 3. Survive.

I find the suggestion to ally with the Tartars to be sensible.
We have some recent arrivals we can enlist as guides and/or translators. Others who have interacted with them could also do the same.
So Duke Gary, we can have two overarching plans for this campaign. The primary strategy would be to liberate the Percian castle if possible. It is our belief the eastern city will likely be taken so we prefer to control the castle to prevent the Mongols from fully overrunning the kingdom, even if it does fall again over the winter.
As a secondary strategy, if the western city is threatened we can assemble the army near it with the pretense of relieving the siege when it actuality we wait out the mongols to attack us in the forest area instead. Fighting them in the plains would be ill advised.

Well now Gentlemen, Lords, and Nobles,
Since there had been no alternative motion for the peace agreement between Elyria and the Amihanan League, along with no further comment or suggestions on the specifics of the campaign details provided by Commander Evander, I feel it is time to complete the final vote and then end the Diet session.
I motion we close the session once this round of voting is complete.
Is there any who would second this motion?
We will commence voting once the motion has been seconded.

The Elyrian delegate rises to speak
Consul-Speaker, I do have a potential compromise regarding the Elyrian-Amihanan conflict, but had waited until your discussions regarding the military matters were resolved, as you requested. Thus far, lord Gewisse stated that there would be no appetite for the annexation of the castle in the Diet, but there has been no comment from anyone, barring the Amihanan's, about the indemnity. So we have a compromise; an armistice between Elyria, Kressia and the Amihanan until such a time as Sartaq Khan has been repelled from the Empire, and in exchange of Elyria's victories thus far, the Amihanan League will pay 300 Florins a year to the Serene Repulic. That way, it would forgo the transfer of territories, and also be a reduced indemnity if all goes according to the plans as spoken of here. Would this be a more suitable proposition?

300 florins a year for how long exactly?

Until Sartaq is removed from the Empire, which seems highly likely judging from the plans that are being spoken about and set in motion within the Diet today. My previous offer was bound to a 5 year term, but this way should Sartaq be kicked out sooner than that period, then the Amihanan's would pay for a shorter period of time, amounting to a smaller indemnity for them.
Likewise the truce would last for an equal length of time, to incorporate the Consul-Speaker's armistice terms.

The representative from the Amihanan league rose to speak
"We stand by the peace terms as put forward by Lord Gewisse. Furthermore, if such a deal is indeed passed by the Diet, we can donate towards fighting the Khan in the east, whereas an indemnity would leave us unable to do so. Therefore we continue to state that a status quo ante bellum is a better solution for immediate and just peace."
