The Lord-Archon unrolled the note and read it aloud after clearing this throat.
The construction guilds and respective merchants have informed me that a city and castle on the island will cost 3000 florins all told, but can be paid in installments.
I believe this sum to be attainable by this body or individual member realms.

It sould surely be possible.

“Agreed. The Republic sees no issues with the sum since it is in line with the estimated costs.
On average among the 13 member states and the Church, if they are willing, it would be an estimated 230f in total for the establishment of the Holy Order on the island.
On our part, we are willing to provide this sum, and more, if needed for the defense of all Christian realms.”

The church must decline the offer to participate. Though they have graciously offered to found a chapel to attend the needs of the faithful, this has no bearing on the projects cost.

As my Bishop taught me - charity starts at home and our funds are already being spent in accordance with such. As it stands, the beautiful and godly city of Bristol has nearly finished a church; they’re just waiting on my return for the dedication. And other funds are housing the poor and unfortunate rural peasants whom have found themselves out of jobs through no fault of their own.
Owing to our proximity to the seas, we likely could be a major source of lumber should that help defray costs of the city.

I wish to make it known that the Tagsatzung is extremely unlikely to participate in this venture. Helvetia is neither wealthy in land, trade, nor in seafaring traditions; we not have the capacity to be involved in any way with the establishment and maintenance of a maritime Holy Order Guild in the seas to the north.

Allectus’ advisor was whispering a few things to his ear. They would chuckle and nod in agreement. It was difficult to determine what was said but anyone with good lip reading skills could decipher “miserly ducks” and “door pheasants” but who can really know. Allectus rose to speak.
“Gentlemen,
It seems the particular matter of how to finance and support this holy order is far too contentious an issue for some of the less prosperous realms.
Instead I simply motion for the creation of said holy order on the specified Island with the restrictions placed upon it by the Lord Archon Evander.
How and in what matter this holy order supports itself, is an internal matter they will handle on their own with no commitments from the Diet.
Is this more amenable to the lords and nobles of this august body?”

It appears point number five has been handled by their local lords, as they should be.
I motion we move to a vote. I have a church dedication to go to.

“The Kingdom of Percia has previously stated that the issues related to the Tatars has been dealt with and they are no longer a threat.
We however have not heard from the Caelian Republic and reports of Muslim incursions and mercenary raids into their lands.
We just wish for a clarification or confirmation of these reports to ensure the well being of their Republic and people and whether they may need any assistance.”

They have had ample time to request assistance. Until we get confirmed reports of Moslems in Christian land, it is not the duty of this Diet to intrude where it feels.
I once again motion we go to a final vote and end session.

OOC: Will probably second no later than 24 hours if no one else does and Company doesn't comment.
IC: *Duke Gary would look at Merchant Republic of Caelin's representative.*
"Do you have anything to add? If not, I'll second the motion to go to a final vote."

The Guildmaster stands and provides a simple statement.
The Merchant Republic has not been invaded by any Moslem hordes and the Christian Church continues to minister to all Caelin peoples with the full support of the Council and the Legate.
We are not certain as to the source of these rumors of “Moslem Hordes” but can confirm to the Diet that our belief in the supremacy of the Christian Church remains true.

1. Official Location of Diet (Argent Despotate) 2. Establishment of Holy Order (Argent Despotate) 3. Tatars and Muslim Raiders/Attacks (Republic of Tyramo) 4. Diet every 3 years instead of 5 (Kingdom of Gewisse) 5. Revisions to how Diet settles wars/conflicts (Kingdom of Gewisse)
Listed above are the topics outlined at the start of this Imperial Diet.
I believe all but point 3 have had laws seconded for voting. Unless there is another topic this body wishes to discuss, we will assemble the seconded voting topics and proceed to cast ballots.
