Starsavo, in many ways, is like other kingdoms. It is a feudal system, with a few lord's controlling the land. But, it has a few key differences, the biggest one being it's culture. The culture of Starsavo is a very old one, set in it's ancient roots as nomads. Their architecture involves many peaked roofs, tall spires, and onion shaped domes. And while Starsavo has accepted Christianity, they have integrated many ancient traditions and festivals into the faith. These ancient traditions include the two Dances of the Solstice, one taking place at noon on the summer solstice, and another taking place at midnight on the winter solstice. Another ancient traditions is that like the knights, the lord's too have a code of chivalry to follow. This code includes treating their serfs very well, giving them a day off for every holiday, (a week for Christmas and Easter.) Plenty of food, decent healthcare, and 2 pennies a week in pay. And, if a Lord does not follow these codes, they are put on trial, and , if found guilty, executed.
Another interesting fact about Starsavo is it's long standing independence from Reme. Even during the height of the Remean Empire, the nomadic tribes of Starsavo stalked through the southern woods, ambushing any Remans who attempted to come through. Only after Reme collapsed did the people of Starsavo settle. They settled along the Slova river, and named their city Ivangrad, named after the leader of the largest tribe, the Ukra. Currently, the city is one of the largest in the world, attracting many from from far lands to see it's incredible architecture, taste it's delicacies, experience it's incredible festivals, and be protected by it's great walls. Other cities have also been founded, such as the southern city of Morograd, named after Moroznyk I, who heralded in a great new age of expansion for the kingdom. Moroznyk I also constructed the great fortress of Kirpichnayagora, meant to guard against any attacks from the east.
In more recent times, Starsavo has focused on building up a strong defense, fortifying it's lands, as it looks like the world will soon descend into a major conflict. Starsavo has also moved away from cavalry, and moved to using defensive pikemen and heavy infantry to stand like a great stone wall against the many enemies that may descend upon them.
Moroznyk II is the son of Ivan IV, who was known for changing the nations battle doctrine to a defensive one. Moroznyk looks to continue his father's plan, and develop a large defensive army, build many castles, and construct great walled cities. He also has considered looking to the unclaimed north, and settling there.
