The city of Tyramo has a long and storied history. Since its founding, the city has had a strong republican tradition that has shaped its politics and worldview since before the formation of the Empire. Its people have a strong sense of civic duty, good governance and a renowned marital spirit. Since the early days of the Empire, the city of Tyramo has grown from a humble city state to a proud nation extolling the virtues of republican governance and mercantile ventures.
The Republic of Tyramo is headed by an elected Consul chosen from among the oldest and most prestigious families, and individuals, from all over the Republic that make up the Tyramos Senate. Until recently, all the consuls chosen by the Tyramos Senate have been from Tyramo itself. Allectus de Gallia, as his name sake suggests, is the first Consul elected to the position from the city of Gallia, a former colony of the Tyramos Republic. The rise of a provincial to the position of Consul exemplifies the meritocratic and republican spirit that permeates every level of society.
The city of Tyramo is well renowned for maintaining its ancient and classical architecture and statues. Painters, sculptors and other artists from around the Reman Empire, during its height and after the fall, have flocked to the city for inspiration for their works. The main travelers to the city and the drivers of its commercial and economic activity are the many thousands of pilgrims who flock to Tyramo to visit the holy site of Saint Jules and Saint Vincent whom are said to have been saved by God’s divine intervention when they were to be martyred by pagans for professing their Christian faith. It is told that a group of soldiers tied them up to a post and readied their arrows to kill the two Christians, however these trained veteran archers and bowmen were unable to piece their skin no matter how many times they fired. The arrows would completely miss St Jules and Saint Vincent and lodge themselves to a wall behind them. Pilgrims travel for months to visit the holy site to pray at the wall and touch the sanctified arrows that are believed to have been moved by God himself.
