How to create
First, the most important aspect of character creation is that you come up with a cool idea as to what your kingdom will be in the game. Be it a stock medieval kingdom or maybe a merchant republic, you have free reign in the medieval space. There are a couple of requirements: First, all players kingdoms are christian by default, as the game is not made to handle playing infidels just yet. Second, I ask you to please take it just a little seriously and pick some at least authentic ideas out of your thought soup. As I am a bitter berry, I will be asking people to repick if their choices are just goofy puns, or what have you. Sue me.
Next, you must pick one peaceful trait, and one warfare trait. Do not reveal them to anyone.
Warfare traits:
Besieger - Add 5 to any siege roll.
Defeat in detail - On own territory, double movement of the assembled army. On enemy territory, 1.5x movement.
Scorched earth and salt the land - Enemy armies on your territory move at 50% speed.
Big Stud - Cavalry are of a higher quality.
A real soldier's general - Infantry are of a higher quality.
Hero of the people - Amount of levy from agricultural tiles is tripled (from 50 to 150) per tile.
Castle engineer - Can build and upgrade castles at 30% less cost
Deep pockets - Mercenary bands 20% cheaper per campaign
No such thing as bad weather - Your campaign season starts 1 month earlier and ends 1 month later.
A regular hannibal - Mountain tiles are no longer impassable, but exact a logistical cost and attrition.
Belisarius - You may claim 20% more territory than maximum allowed per war.
Of Vandal blood - Raiding gives 50% more per raided hex.
Peaceful traits:
Passionate architect - All city buildings and associated tiles are 30% cheaper. (castles not included).
Stronghold - All castle and castle fortification upgrades are 30% cheaper. Does not stack with Castle Engineer
Deus Vult - You start with a better relationship with the Church, with an 8/10 in relationship points.
Strike the earth! - Resources provide 1 extra resource chit.
Living among the saints - Your capital becomes a holy site, bringing in extra revenue from pilgrims, at about 50 florins a turn. City is also automatically upgraded to level 2.
Man of the people - Populace starts off happier with 8/10.
FIRST!!! - You will be able to pick territories first. If other players pick FIRST!!! You will still be in sequence with them, but before any other players.
Tradesman - You pick 1 city to receive 2 ‘Silks and Spices’ chits for the rest of the game.
King of Sinful Delights - Add 1 ‘Capital of Debauchery’ to any city. See building list for consequences.
They Call Me Mr. Diplomatic - Add 2 Ambassadorial Suites to any city.
Hired blades - Start the game off with a mercenary office.
